Anita Mitchell

A native of Ohio, Anita has more than 50 years of campaign and governmental experience and has served in many high-level civic roles. She developed a passion for politics in 1964 and has been involved in almost every GOP election since. Her passion and extensive knowledge of governmental affairs led her to become a longtime lobbyist and GOP fundraiser and serve as Chairman of the Palm Beach County Republican Party and be on the Board of the Republican Party of Florida.

She started her career in sales, public relations, and radio in Brevard County, Florida, and later worked for prestigious organizations such as Walt Disney World, The American Film Institute, and Florida TaxWatch – Florida’s number one governmental think tank. In 1979 she spearheaded the company Anita Mitchell Associates as President, which is now The Mitchell Group based in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was married to NASA astronaut Edgar Mitchell, the Lunar Module Pilot and one of the three astronauts who walked on the moon during the Apollo 14 mission in 1971. She had the unique experience of seeing many of the Apollo missions up close, first as a radio station reporter and then through her 17-year relationship with Edgar Mitchell, who died in 2016. Anita is the mother of former West Palm Beach City Commissioner Kimberly Mitchell and has helped raise money for various charities like Helping Hands and for many GOP candidates over the years, including Mitt Romney and Gov. Rick Scott.

Anita has been featured in numerous publications, including "Who’s Who in Advertising," as well as "Who’s Who In Politics" on the East Coast, and has served in high-level civic roles, including the boards of Chambers of Commerce and The Palm Beach Sports Authority. She was the first woman President of The Forum Club of the Palm Beaches, a Cabinet Appointment to The Florida Commission on the Status of Women, Chair of The State Women’s Hall of Fame, and was one of the founders and served on the board of Sunfest, and Cities in Schools. She was also appointed to several groups of political and corporate leaders to address the drought resulting in the famine in East Africa under President Reagan’s “Teach A Man To Fish” program.

Anita works for Margaritaville at Sea, housed in the Port of Palm Beach, where she has served as Vice President of External Affairs for the past five years. She oversees communications with local and federal government groups and elected officials, helping further the reach of the executive team’s relationships within the Palm Beach County community.

One of her passions is her radio show, first known as Stirrin' It Up with Anita Mitchell, which was recently rebranded to Inside Out with Anita Mitchell on the True Oldies Channel, heard on various frequencies throughout Florida, and internationally through iHeartRADIO, Google Play, Alexa and TrueOldiesFLA.com.
