She developed a passion for politics in 1964 and has been involved in almost every GOP election since. Her passion and extensive knowledge of governmental affairs led her to become a longtime lobbyist and GOP fundraiser and serve as Chairman of the Palm Beach County Republican Party and be on the Board of the Republican Party of Florida.

She started her career in sales, public relations, and radio in Brevard County, Florida, and later worked for prestigious organizations such as Walt Disney World, The American Film Institute, and Florida TaxWatch – Florida’s number one governmental think tank. Anita is the mother of former West Palm Beach City Commissioner Kimberly Mitchell and has helped raise money for various charities like Helping Hands and for many GOP candidates over the years, including Mitt Romney and Gov. Rick Scott.

Anita has been featured in numerous publications, including "Who’s Who in Advertising," as well as "Who’s Who In Politics" on the East Coast, and has served in high-level civic roles, including the boards of Chambers of Commerce and The Palm Beach Sports Authority. She was the first woman President of The Forum Club of the Palm Beaches, a Cabinet Appointment to The Florida Commission on the Status of Women, Chair of The State Women’s Hall of Fame, and was one of the founders and served on the board of Sunfest, and Cities in Schools.
