Palm Beach County School District in-person graduations start at South Florida Fairgrounds

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. —

More than 14,000 students are graduating from 32 schools in Palm Beach County. Four of those ceremonies took place last week On Monday, the first of more than two dozen schools in the county began holding in-person ceremonies at the South Florida Fairgrounds Expo Center in West Palm Beach.

Santaluces Community High School was the first to hold a ceremony, with nearly 600 students taking the stage. As a precaution, there were a lot of changes and coronavirus safety protocols in place, including mask requirements. As graduates walked across the stage, there was no handshaking, and guests were separated into a different section of the building from graduates. Guests were able to watch parts of the ceremony through large screens, and parents were only able to see graduates twice. Once as they passed through during a procession, and then as they walked across the stage.
