PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. —
The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners is holding a press conference Tuesday.
Dr. Alino Alonso gave a COVID-19 update, stating that the county is following Florida's decreasing trends. "We're hoping we can keep this up," Alonso said. She noted with holidays coming, there may be small increases, but nothing substantial. Community transmission decreased in the county to moderate as 53% of the population is now vaccinated. As the demand for vaccination decreases, the supply will still continue and the county plans to use mobile sites to reach people in the community. The age group with the largest vaccination rate is the 65 and older group at 82%, while the 20-29-year-old group has the lowest vaccination rate at 22%. Palm Beach County has a positivity rate of 3.2%, with the highest-positivity group at ages 12-19 who have a positivity rate of 5.4%.
