GREENVILLE, S.C. —
A 5.1 magnitude earthquake shook northern North Carolina Sunday morning, with some reporting they felt the quake in bordering states. The U.S. Geological Survey reports the quake occurred in Sparta, North Carolina, at 8:07 a.m. Sparta is just south of the Virginia border, about 70 miles northwest of Winston-Salem.
