"Hocus Pocus" wasn't originally the family-friendly movie we've all come to love as a Halloween staple.

Writer Mick Garris reflected on the making of "Hocus Pocus" to EW in 2017, revealing that it was titled "Halloween House" when he started working on it, and Steven Spielberg was potentially interested.

"He loved it until he found out that Disney was already involved. At that time, Disney and Amblin (Entertainment) were very competitive in the family-film market, so neither of them wanted to be in business with the other," Garris explained.
