Watch out for bank phishing scams. These scams try to target customers of just about any bank.

A concerned viewer emailed sister station WGAL about a text she received that claimed to be from M&T Bank

 

The message provided a one-time password and said that if the recipient hadn't requested it, she should click on a provided link to verify her identity.

M&T's website said it will not send you an email or text requesting that you click on a hyperlink and enter your login credentials or personal information.

Clicking on that kind of link is nothing but bad news.

It can unload dangerous software onto your device and lock up your smartphone or computer.

If you get this text, just delete it.

If you have any questions about your bank account, contact the bank using a trusted phone number.
