The Federal Communications Commission has a warning about a new kind of text message scam.
It's a message that seems pretty important to someone, but it was sent to you accidentally. The text is about a doctor's appointment, a meeting or some type of legal issue.
You may respond back that the message has been sent to the wrong number.
The next thing you know, you're being drawn into a continuing text conversation that could cost you a lot of money.
Though the correspondence seems to start as an accident, the FCC said scammers will try to establish relationships with the potential victims and eventually try to persuade them to give away their savings with the belief that they're investing in cryptocurrency.
