State regulators next week will hold a workshop to begin considering a proposal to create an additional area code in Palm Beach County because the 561 area code is in “jeopardy” of running out of numbers, according to a proposal filed Friday by the North American Numbering Plan Administrator, an agency that oversees area codes.

Barry O’Brien has been driving Circuit shuttles in West Palm Beach for almost three years now.

“We used to charge $3 a ride up until now, which is pretty inexpensive - but free is better than $3 a ride,” O’Brien said.

He said all of the drivers are local. And even though the need for these rides slowed down during the pandemic, the pilot project between Circuit and the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority over the next three months could prove their services are needed as a long-term option in the city.

“We’ve had so much development come in the downtown and we do have quite a few residents in the downtown and we’ve noticed an increase in vehicle traffic,” said Teneka Feaman, associate executive director at West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority.

Jack Nicklaus, Ernie Els and Annika Sorenstam held a golf clinic at PGA National on Monday as part of the Integra Connect Golf Classic to benefit the ASCO's Conquer Cancer Foundation.

Between the three golfers, they have 32 major championships. Patrons were treated to tips about golf swings and the mental aspect of the game.
