Jupiter's Justin Thomas wins 2nd PGA title in playoff after 7-shot rally

TULSA, Okla. —

Video above: Justin Thomas brings presents to kids in Riviera Beach for Christmas in 2021

Justin Thomas is a major champion when he least expected it.

Thomas matched a PGA Championship record Sunday when he rallied from a seven-shot deficit at Southern Hills, and then saved his most exquisite shot-making for a three-hole playoff to defeat Will Zalatoris.

He closed with a 3-under 67, matching the low score of a final round made difficult more by nerves than the wind. He seized control in the playoff with a 3-wood to 35 feet on the 301-yard 17th hole for a two-putt birdie.

50 years in the making, woman takes part in cherished graduation tradition

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

A Missouri woman waited 50 years to take part in a cherished graduation tradition.

Connie Puett graduated from KU in 1972 but she never got to take part in the tradition of walking down the hill to the stadium on graduation day. That is until Sunday.

"Was walking down the hill everything you thought it would be?" sister station KMBC asked Puett.

"It was actually more than I thought it would be," said Puett, a retired teacher.

Puett graduated in 1972, but because of bad weather on graduation day, everything was moved inside to Allen Fieldhouse. There was no walk down the hill to the stadium like generations of KU grads have done before.

Miss the lunar eclipse? Check out the dazzling 'blood moon'

The moon glowed red on Sunday night and the early hours of Monday, after a total lunar eclipse that saw the sun, Earth and moon form a straight line in the night sky.

During a full lunar eclipse, the moon passes through the darkest part of the Earth's shadow — the umbra. When the moon is within the umbra it gets a reddish hue because blue and green light get more easily scattered by dust particles in the atmosphere and orange and red colors remain more visible, according to NASA. Lunar eclipses are sometimes called blood moons because of this phenomenon.

Uber becomes latest company to test delivering food with robots

Uber is the latest company to try delivering food to people's homes with robots.

The company, which has long claimed that automation is key to its future profitability, is launching two test programs to deliver Uber Eats in greater Los Angeles this month, including four-wheeled robots that roll on sidewalks for short trips as well as self-driving cars for longer distances.

Starting Monday Uber Eats customers will be given the option to have their meals delivered by one of the robots, rather than a traditional human delivery. Customers will receive instructions in the Uber app for how to retrieve their food from inside the robot. The Serve robot resembles a colorful cooler on wheels, with a lid that flips open to reveal a delivery inside. The robot, which will operate in West Hollywood, has headlights that resemble eyes, making it look like something out of a cartoon.

Mercedes has issued a 'Do not drive' advisory for 292,000 vehicles. Here's which ones are included

Lauderdale, Florida, U.S., on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011. (Mark Elias/Bloomberg via Getty Images)  SOURCE: Mark Elias/Bloomberg via Getty Images

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 292,000 SUVs and advising owners of the vehicles to stop driving them until a potential problem — which could cause the power brake system to fail — can be fixed if needed.

The recall and advisory apply to Mercedes ML-, GL-. and R-class SUVs from the 2006 through 2012 model years. Brake boosters, which provide power assistance to the brakes, can corrode over an extended period of time, especially when exposed to significant amounts of water, according to announcements from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Mercedes. Corrosion can allow air to leak into the system, weakening the power brakes. This would cause drivers to have to exert more force to bring the vehicle to a stop and could lead to increased stopping distances.

Sky to put on a show Sunday with total lunar eclipse visible in most of the US

As summer approaches and the weather warms up, our nearest celestial neighbor has a special treat for sky watchers — a total lunar eclipse visible across North and South America on the night of Sunday, May 15.

The eclipse will begin when the Earth's shadow appears on the moon at 10:27 p.m. ET Sunday night. Over the course of an hour, the shadow will creep across the moon, covering the lunar surface into darkness.

During the 84-minute event, the moon will only receive sunlight bent through the Earth's atmosphere and will change color over the minutes, from gray to pink to orange to red-- which is why it's referred to as a "blood moon."

Tesla recalls nearly 130K vehicles due to overheating infotainment system

MIAMI, FLORIDA - OCTOBER 21: A Tesla Model Y electric vehicle is dispalyed on a showroom floor at the Miami Design District on October 21, 2021 in Miami, Florida. Tesla recalled 129,960 vehicles this month to fix infotainment systems that may overheat before and during fast charging.

Tesla says it is resolving the flaw with an over-the-air software update, which refreshes software wirelessly like a smartphone app update, making the recall less burdensome for Tesla and affected owners. Tesla owners won't need to take their vehicles to a service station.

Trials for a nasal spray vaccine for Alzheimer's are underway

Imagine this: A vaccine that could stop Alzheimer’s disease in its tracks.

A treatment that could spare millions of families the pain and heartbreak of watching someone they love slip away is now in clinical trials in Boston.

“What we’re doing, it’s never been done before,” said Dr. Howard Weiner, co-director of the Ann Romney Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Weiner has been working on the nasal spray vaccine for almost two decades. The treatment relies on an immune modulator called Protollin, a drug made up of proteins derived from bacteria. It is designed to activate white blood cells to start clearing the plaque build-up on the brain, a hallmark of the disease.

Zeus, a Great Dane from Texas, is the world's tallest dog

A Great Dane has been crowned the world's tallest living dog by Guinness World Records.

Two-year-old Zeus from Bedford, Texas, stands at a whopping 3 feet, 5.18 inches, making him the tallest dog in the world.

He officially received the paw-some plaudit on March 22, after his height was measured and confirmed by his vet.

Owner Brittany Davis said she always dreamed of having a Great Dane named Zeus and was over the moon when her brother gave her the pup when he was just eight weeks old. Although she was initially nervous about his vast size, she soon fell in love with him.

Davis told Guinness World Records: "He's been a big dog since we got him, even for a puppy. He had huge paws."

Zeus' Olympian diet includes 12 cups of "Gentle Giants" dog food every day, as well as the occasional fried egg and bully sticks. His all-time favorite treat is ice cubes, Davis said.

The brown and gray colossus now is a local celebrity, showered with attention and treats when he and his human visit the Dallas Farmer's Market.

'I'm happy that I can bring it back': Veteran's ring returned after 70 years

EDDYSTONE, Pa. (Video by KYW via CNN) —

After seven decades and a journey across the world, a Pennsylvania veteran's class ring is home again.

A Dutch Army officer made the long trip to the U.S. to reunite the ring with its long-lost family.

KYW reports the ring belonged to Joseph Sullivan who fought in the Korean War.

"How the ring ended up in the Netherlands... that's something we will never know, unfortunately," Dutch Army Lt. Col. Jos Groen told KYW.

KYW reports that a Dutch soldier somehow came to be in possession of the ring before giving it to another Dutch soldier who shared the story with Groen. Groen then made it a mission to get the ring back to where it belonged.
